MISSION OKINAWA

皆さんこんにちは。Okinawa searcherです。

沖縄では、豚は鳴き声以外は全て食べる！というほど豚肉をよく食べる習慣があります。
We eat a lot of pork in the Okinawan food culture.



様々な調理法で頂きますが、代表的な煮込み料理にてぃびちがあります。
豚足を煮込んで柔らかくして、味付けをします。
汁物にしたり、沖縄そばの上にのせて食べたり、おでんで頂いたり。（沖縄では、一年中おでんを食べますよ）

We eat it many kinds of ways. One example is called “tibichi”. It is cooking well (usually boiling) pig’s feet until soft with different kinds of seasoning.
We eat tibichi by itself, we eat it as soup, we put it on Okinawa noodles, and we put in oden.
It is very tasty!!

It is very soft and has a lot of collagen.



子供の頃は少し苦手だったてぃびちですが、今ではすっかり大好物
時間かかるし大変なんだよね～と言いながらも、母は時々作ってくれますが、どうやら母は、てぃびちが苦手のようです。
食べられないのに、なぜあんなに美味しく作れるのかは今でも謎ですが・・・

My mom makes tibichi for my family and it is very good even if she complains saying it takes a long time and is a lot of work. But she does not eat tibichi! I am still wondering why she can make tibichi so good even if she cannot eat it since I was a child.

しっかりと母の味を受け継いで、作れるようにならなきゃ。

I have to continue mom’s recipe and be able to cook my own!

手の込んだ沖縄の家庭料理も、有難いことにお店に行けばすぐに食べられます。
でも、祖母から母へ伝わった味、そしてそれを受け継いで残していくことは、とても大切な事のような気がしますね

From my grandmother to my mom and now it is my turn!
Nowadays it is easy to go to the market to buy prepared Okinawan food but I need to learn how to cook Okinawan food at home.
I think it is very important to continue our culture.
